Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Staff Assistant II is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative and executive support and has the ability to interface with all levels of management throughout the hospital. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organization skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a TH Staff Assistant II may include but are not limited to the following:
Obtaining insurance authorizations for office procedures and imaging testing (MRI, PET/CT CT scans etc.) and other special patient needs. May also be required to obtain referrals as needed.
Assists MD's, PA's and NP's in obtaining and scheduling consultations with other hospital services.
Will become proficient with all necessary computer applications required in job performance i.e. Cerner power chart, Eclipsys, Patient Keeper, Excel etc.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Performs administrative support duties for assigned MD's, PA's and NP's.
Answers telephone calls and distributes messages in a timely manner.
Adheres to HIPPA standards in keeping patient's confidentiality and personal information.
Works with the Stem Cell team to ensure all billing for transplants and associated treatments are completed on time.
Qualifications
Required
Qualifications: Associate's degree and at least 1 year of medical office setting experience. Professional phone skills. Ability to prioritize and work independently. Computer proficiency with Microsoft applications.
Preferred
Experience: Experience with insurance authorizations for medical procedures.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $47,881 - $57,222 / year
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087 for location,
